a whole lot of stuff

my parents just got back from taiwan. im so jealous. there's SO MUCH shopping there, according to my parents..and cheap too. u can get a decent top for $4/$5 SGD!
here are the things they got for me: hair clips (which my mum gushes over, but i dun think its that great), a long-sleeved mickey mouse logo top and a nice black shirt with silver n gold lettering. not bad. im quite satisfied. i've learn the trick in asking my parents (who are untrendy) to get things for me. i must give very descriptive instructions. never say "buy me a shirt". u must say "buy me a shirt with words/ lettering and no pictures please". im so happy i succeeded in giving good directions.

i tendered my resignation today. tmr's my last day at minlaw. i've enjoyed every moment there especially when i know i've done my best to help those poor bankrupts.

one more thing. yday during bible study, bocheng and i got into a discussion about LOVE. issues like "is love rational?" "how do we define love?" very interesting. and it was quite hilarious. cuz every time we try and attack the issue, we would come back and say, if we define love as such, then we're conditioning love and that will contradict the unrestricted, unconditional nature that love possess.

i think its not fair to judge acts of love because love in itself is an emotion. it may be incomprehensible to others but absolutely pure and simple to the one who's feeling it. its sad for one to be criticized for loving, but even sadder for the critic because it shows two things. 1. that the critic does not understand the depths of love. he's limited by his own experience and knowledge of what love is. 2. the critic's selfish nature is protruded. he thinks everyone else is alike him, unable to love unconditionally and willingly.

more thoughts about love tmr. gdnite.

riot

we, the ny aep girls really created a racket at the Irish Pub. well its been 2 years since we've met up. so u've got to forgive us. anyway the ambience was perfect. nobody to disturb us. no opposite gender to irritate or spoil our evening. it was perfect. i had my bailey, AS USUAL. haha. at the end of it, we had group hugs. everyone had to line up so dat we all had a chance to hug everyone. n stupid pan had ridiculous ideas of like, more group hugs and a speech from everyone which we opposed unanimously. so in the end, pan as the chairman of this gathering made the concluding speech and then some of us went the other way walking down orchard. i had a great evening. time well spent, and i hope we have such meet-ups more often, especially since we're all so unique and talented pple that it gets very interesting. haha. i'm boosting my own ego too.

i shall not talk about the 2 hours pan n i spent shopping n looking at just anything we can find. my good frens would just condemn me if they ever hear of it. haha.

anyway i gotta go sleep n prepare scripture reading for tmr.

one more thing. today a couple of us agreed that we are still swinging singles because our maturity level and our level of thought is beyond the guys of our age. its very true. so guys, please catch up soon. or else u're losing out on many good girls. haha. thats all for today. goodnite folks.

fix you

on my way home, i saw the backview of someone. i thought it was you. it wasnt. and then it dawned on me. i dun miss you. and thats sad. i wanted to miss you. but i dun. i never wanted our frenship to go this way. but it did.

i tried to recall all those happy moments we once shared. and then i realized, i cant remember much of it. i wish i remember. i want to miss you. it would definitely make it easier for me to recover that frenship we lost and make me feel like looking for u again. i know i still want you to be my fren. but i dunno how to. somewhere along the way, we just couldnt see eye to eye anymore. our frenship was like a very romanticized stint. it wasnt what you thought it was. and i knew it. but i didnt know how to break it to you.

you used to tell me that u're trying, trying your best to make me happy. and i never felt that u tried hard enough. maybe its because i cant understand the way you express yourself. and its because im a coward. the knowledge of who you are made me scared. the knowledge of what you did not reveal to me got me suspicious because u are really not who i thought u were. its my fault for trying to formulate you into someone u're not.

we are so different. but i still wanted to love u. i never wanted to hurt u. but i've already did. because i wasnt honest with u. i didnt want you to know the truth.

i want to miss you. i want to love u again. and i know i cant do that, except with the love of God. but sometimes, i forget about u as if u were never part of my life. i need God's help. i know i do.

Coldplay's Fix You
When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

When the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

High up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
If you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

i hope i'll fix us.

hey im a nerd okie?!!

I am nerdier than 12% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

i think this test is discriminating in nature towards those nerds who are in the arts stream. im really a nerd. just because i dunno how issac newton looks like doesnt mean im not a nerd. test me how picasso looks like. i'll prove to u im a nerd.

my piano tcher just msged me to tell me he has a fren at moe who told him results may be out either next wed or fri. my reply was: okie thanks. im fully prepared for the worst. too tired of waiting..

haiz im quite disappointed. but i think im numb to it already.

the best things in life

the best things in life are those that you do not need to fight for, those that come to you freely.

ironically, if that statement applies, i should be happy to get FFFF for a levels becuz i didnt even need to fight for them.

anyway goodnite guys. early night for me. gonna sleep after my 9pm piano lesson.

for en

this is for u, enzie...u're like my best fren in your own good sense.

i think we're hardly in control of our lives. to have control will mean taking a conscious effort in every moment of our life in wat we do and wat we think. if u're a Christian, i would ask you to pray more. becuz its in prayer where u can sought help from God and God can change u. instead of trying to gain control, we let it go and let God take charge. this higher-level-being supersedes even the greatest control we can ever obtain, but yet can understand us mankind because Jesus was made into human form and He intervenes for us.
Hebrews 4: 14-15 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin.

but well, for now i can only say, i dun think we can ever be in full control because the things that happen around us are improbable. we cant foresee things. we dunno how other people will react. sometimes we are surprised by our own reaction. its something we have to accept and make a constant effort to be aware of.

oh and the issue on whether one will be condemned to hell because he/she has rejected God in some way or another. ultimately, its up to God. even if some murderer enters heaven, (im just being extreme here) nobody can ask, "God, why is he here?" its totally up to God. His sovereignty. Who are we to question God?
so i dunno whether u'll be condemned. but one thing for sure, if one rejects the truth in full knowledge of what it is, he will be condemned. whether the ignorant will be saved, its up to God. when i say ignorant, i refer to these 2 types of pple: (a) those who choose not to know and refuse to know whether this God exists. (b) those who do not even know about the issue of a God. whether its (a) or (b), we cant tell. we humans are too complex. how do we even tear apart the heart and decipher intentions? i guess only God will know.

one last thing...about the fren u miss. the test u "set up" sounds like the one i gave to u-know-who. my advice is, talk to her. i know ur fren cares about u. she just dunno wat to do. u cant say for sure dat the person she's loving is not you. its hard to tell. (read the bold words above). and the both of you are lost.
its like the two of u are thrown onto two ends of a road. wat u2 need to do is walk towards the centre. start walking, en. its better than getting stuck. maybe the road's shorter than we expect.

every Sunday is a glorious day.

today's sermon was on matthew 5: 3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God." poor in spirit=admitting that you're weak. therefore, having humility. its also acknowledging that you are empty and you need God to fill you.

i have found a new delight in sleeping. but i still love pizza hut the best. haha.

God is absolute.

everyone would agree that because we are human, we have our weaknesses. but not everyone would agree that we, homosapiens, always live our lives in contradiction. we like to say one thing and do another becuz we're not aware of our actions. if u do not agree with that above statement, its time to truly reflect on it. the fact is, we're never strong on our stand. we waver so easily that sometimes, its difficult for us to evaluate ourselves.

conclusion: man can be very subjective. its easy to subscribe to your own set of so-called moral values (consciously and unconsciously). but only God is absolute. He is our yardstick in life and our way of life. mankind is mortal. God is immortal. and through Jesus Christ, we find a new and living way.

anyway...do this for me. http://kevan.org/johari?name=huiminthegreat

about prayer

i've been checking moe website for the past few days. no announcements about release of a level results. hmm...

since psle, every year after my exams, i would pray that God would just give me the results i deserve, nothing more, nothing less. but after the a levels, i've changed my way of praying. i would pray to God to prepare a path for me, a future ahead. cuz this time i know i seriously did very badly. so what if i've worked really hard? everything is based on the exam itself. i can't possibly expect good grades. so i must as well submit it to God and let Him give me the results that will determine my next step in life, rather than the results i deserve. (judging by how the exams went, wat i deserve will probably be damn bad)

so leave it to God la. just read my msn nick. it says, You're(God) more than enough for me.

message for the male species

scenario 1: its valentine's day. 2 good frens (a guy, a girl) go out for dinner. they're not a couple, but good frens. weird situation. finally the guy tells the girl, "arent u my valentine?" n the girl smiles, happy dat the evening ended dat way.

scenario 2: its valentine's day. a couple goes out. they hardly talk. the night ended in silence. (if u wanna know, they broke up a few days lateR)

scenario 3: its valentine's day. the girl has no date. she secretly wishes to see the guy whom she's been with on and off for the last one month or so. n then he shows up, with choc n flowers.

the above 3 scenarios all happened on tonite's episode of MTV Laguna Beach. i like the 3rd one the best. DUH. but i like the 1st one too. hmm...cant make up my mind. i think the 1st one would be most appropriate for me. good frens then becoming a couple. i like dat progress.

my message for all the guys out there is...dun be the guy in scenario 2. u really deserve a slap. its valentine's day n u're with me, n u dun wanna talk? if u really feel so awkward with me, u must as well not ask me out, or just break up before valentine's instead of making the both of us go through that. evil man.

anyway, to those of my frens who celebrated valentine's day, hope u guys had fun. haha.

shopping

i love shopping. it gives me a sense of achievement. i dunno how to describe dat feeling. but its just damn shiok when u buy something u like. and en has a funny theory. she thinks there's no kick to shop at bugis cuz the things are so cheap that you dun feel the excitement after u finish buying something u like.
but as far as im concerned, shopping therapy really works. and if i'm damn broke, i dun mind buying something that looks good on me, doesnt look cheapskate and makes me happy.
my shopping fetish includes: JACKETS!! i loooooove jackets!!
skirts, cuz its hard to find pants which can impress me and give me the urge to get them. and.....shoes when they're unique.
oh, and i like Swatch's Valentine's day watch...haha.

Happy Valentine's day to you all. gotta go for my piano lesson. its weird having it at 9pm on V day.

We are all aliens of this world

We are all aliens of this world. When we were born, we didn't know where we come from. We didn't know our Father. We had to be educated to understand the world better. And then, there are those who prefer not to know. They call their way of life "living simply" or "being contented with being ordinary" (or wat i call, boring). Then there are those who strive hard to be "extraordinary". From here, they can only go in two ways---either they become famous, rich and popular or they become disappointed with themselves. Those who become famous will be greedy and keep fighting for more. They want the limelight. Those who fail to be that extraordinary one may just fall into depression, commit suicide, or complain to God. Eventually, they become the majority who just live their lives making the best out of the ordinary. And then we're back to square one. Is contentment the solution to living a happy life? Am I right to say that Ordinary lives=Boring lives? Maybe. Its just perspective, really. It's your life. Find your own direction, live it and just enjoy every minute of it.

But if you don't know where to find that path in life, i have something for you.
Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6

Goodnight, my fellow aliens of the world.

One song I would like to share....

Above All by Michael W. Smith
Above all powers above all kings
Above all nature and all created things
Above all wisdom and all the ways of man
You were here before the world began

Above all kingdoms above all thrones
Above all wonders the world has ever known
Above all wealth and treasures of the earth
There's no way to measure what You're worth

Chorus
Crucified laid behind a stone
You lived to die rejected and alone
Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall and thought of me
Above all

May all of you find peace as you sleep tonight. :)

Why I started this blog (and why I detest blogs)

okie i guess i should start with why i detest blogs first.
1. they can make u appear superficial in front of your frens. one thing that's true, words can't express emotions or feelings. so wat makes u think that the contents of a blog will reflect a person's mind?
2. i have seen blogs creating trouble. REAL HOT trouble. and blogs have also raged many wars. blogs can be SCARY!
3. some pple read blogs so that they can find grounds for personal attack. i would really prefer to keep my life confidential.

SO WHY ON EARTH AM I STARTING THIS BLOG?!?!!
because I really would want to share the good things in my life with people. so that when you guys feel down, you can be happy and encouraged when you visit this blog. so that i can share my rather-deep thoughts with the aliens of this world. and ultimately, i started this blog so that i can share God's wonderful work in my life with all of you out there. so....please enjoy and may He come into your lives one day!
