Welcome to HHM Land!

today i learnt a lot more about the legal profession.

in the morning, i went to court with my mentor. we went to the subordinate courts first. the summons-in-chamber, the magistrar's chamber (which we got our wonderful opponent to adjourn hearing) and then to one of the courts to see the passing of a sentence in which our team represented the defendent. it was so exciting. n the senior counsel was really calm and fluent throughout the mitigation. i was so impressed.

then my mentor brought me to family court cuz i told her im most interested in doing family law. unfortunately, the hearings for the morning had more or less ended. and we couldnt find our way through to one of the courts so we didnt get to witness any hearing. but i did get a tour of the place. n family court's really cosy. and i realized that there are 30+ divorce cases a day and a lot more juvenile cases than we imagine.

then in the afternoon, i looked through the transcripts of an EJD that one of our team member is working on. supposed to do some work relating to that case tmr.

i also got to know about the long and odd hours lawyers have to put in, the social life and the different kinds of areas i can be involved in if i chose to study law.

after one week at D&N, i will admit that it gets tiring and sometimes even boring to sift through files. but after today i'm very convinced that i still want to study law. its a tiring and tedious job. but at the end of the day, the satisfaction is so immense that everything is worth it. its so comforting to know that i have helped a client and done my best to reserve the best of justice for whoever that deserves it. haiz...law, i'm really in love with you.
