holiday week no. 8
just got back from a relaxing church retreat at Desaru's Sebana Cove. it was quite an enriching and enjoyable experience. i've been fattened as a result of the 3 buffet meals and 2 tea breaks they have per day.
for the benefit of those who missed out on so much fun, i shall do a brief recount of the event. on the first day, on our way to the resort, we did a little shopping at kota tinggi's tiny shopping mall, had a seafood lunch and visited desaru's fruit farm. upon arrival at the resort, we checked into our rooms and relaxed till dinner time. wei and i went over to andy's room to play titee cuz we only had 3 players (not enough for bridge). after dinner, we attended a sermon by preacher luke.
on the 2nd day, after a heavy breakfast, we listened to a short sermon by rev phua, had a sharing session and then went for lunch! less than 3 hours between breakfast and lunch! i almost wanted to become bulimic immediately. after that was a games session (very happening!!) and then we (andy, mandy, wei, samuel, jixian, me) went canoeing. but we couldn't go too far out. the sea water was extremely salty! after dinner, we took a boat out to see fireflies. the kids were so excited. they kept trying to catch the fireflies which are extremely tiny. there were so many fireflies in the trees. it was very beautiful. nature's own christmas tree lighting. when we got back, it was Bridge Night! we played all the way till almost 3am and went back to sleep.
on our 3rd and last day, we attended a very interesting seminar-style sermon by preacher eng hoe and then we packed up and left. so it was a very interesting and fun-filled retreat. if only more of you (ie. jx, ks) could have come!!
