lost friends

What am i doing here?!??! i need to write my closing statement. ok but whatever.

This is not meant to be an emo entry but it's just going to be a bit more emo than my usual witty posts (at least i think they are. too bad if u dun :P )

I was just thinking about how as you grow older, you have lesser friends. This is what en and i have talked about before and its going to be something which is going to prove to be true as we get older. I've been told by some friends that it seems harder to make friends in university because either people already have their own clique of friends from before or people are too busy with school to make time for befriending. That is understandable and unfortunately, the sad reality of things.

I'm glad that I've met people whom i have lots of fun with in school and pple whom i can share deeply with them on many issues. Maybe my problem is not about making new friends who will stick, but keeping old friends. There are some friends whom i would love to stay in constant contact with but they don't seem to be interested at all. Its very exhausting and frustrating to keep reaching out to someone who can't reciprocate. (For those wondering, its not about a guy!)

I think i have a few friends who fit into this category. Sometimes, it makes me wonder if they still remember the shared memories we've had. Are they too busy with their current lives that this friend is not important or worth a few minutes of their time? Is it that hard to just pop by an sms or msn message to say hi, how are u? Or just to make a short phone call or send an email or facebook message?

As listed, there are so many modes of communication today. Does having more ways of communication make it easier for us to take it for granted. Is it that much of an effort? It appears that friends who are overseas would take more effort to stay in contact with friends in Singapore. I have to admit, i put in more effort to keep in contact with them too. But when i was in HK, i could feel who cared for me and come to know who wanted to stay in touch.

I may appear to be very callous about it, but deep down i'm quite sad that i've lost these friends and i don't know how to express this sadness to them. How can sadness impact someone who no longer feels?
