losing weight$BlogItemTitle$>
a thousand million apologies for deserting all of u! i hope josh groban managed to pacify you a little as he always does to me :)
today's post is on weight loss!
almost a year ago, dorea goh and i embarked on a recee trip to malacca with a bunch of other people. at a pitt stop, i went to the magazine stand, as most girls would. i picked up the Malaysian issue of Female magazine. The cover of the month was "how to lose 5 pounds in 4 weeks". Since I have been such a boring, unentertained/unentertaining person, i decided i shall pay 6 rm for that "useless" (as cal would say) magazine. It will keep dorea and i in good company during free time in malacca. So anyway, the article recommended 1) at least 30 mins of exercise such as doing weights, swimming, jogging, and 2) healthy diet. It was supposed to be effective. Dorea looked at it with cynicism. I wondered if it would work.
The story goes, when I was on exchange in Vancouver, I decided i had gotten way too fat after 2 years of law school - imagine endless mugging with butt rooted to library seat and the many meals at the law canteen. Since it was nearly winter and too cold to jog, i decided swimming was a good idea. Off to the pool i went every weekday, or at least most of the time. the pool was just 3 minutes' walk away, i cant excuse myself for "inconvenience". At first, I swam 10 laps everyday. The next week, I increased it to 12 laps. Then 14 laps, and finally, 15 laps. After getting out of the pool, its 80 situps and 20 crunches.
I also watched my food. Since i did my own grocery shopping, I bought lots of veg, partly because they're way cheaper than meat. I also had a big pack of Quaker's oats at home and I ate them almost everyday for lunch cuz i'm just too lazy to cook something more complicated than oats.
i didnt lose 5 pounds in 4 weeks. i lost around 9 pounds in 2-3 months. There is no big secret to losing weight. you have my recipe alr!
