taylor swift

i'm a big fan of country music. since the days I sat in my new zealand host mum's car listening to elton john with cute sam and lucy. miss them so much!

discovering taylor swift who is coming to singapore on tour in feb 2011 just brought back my love for country music.

avril, onerepublic, jason mraz

I met en yesterday in town to catch up before she flies back to Thailand. we were talking about the manner we blog and i realized that what you blog and when you choose to blog reflects a lot on your personality. for en, she resolves to blogging when she's upset or depressed. for me, i only blog when i have happy things to share or if i'm feeling quite neutral/ emotionless (which is more often than not, when i feel bored).

anyway, this entry is meant to be a review of the 3 albums i bought yday on that cd shop's 3-for-$49.90 deal. avril lavigne's "the best damn thing", one republic's limited tour edition album "dreaming out loud" and jason mraz "we sing, we dance, we steal things". i've wanted the avril n jason mraz album for some time. i intended to get clay aiken's latest album but the store didn't carry it so i had to look for a 3rd album. in the end, it was a tussle between coldplay's "viva la" and one republic in which the latter won me over.

i've heard the entire avril album before i bought it, so nothing much to say about it. some songs i love very very much (yes bea!), some are not to my taste. for one republic's album, i thought they surpassed my expectations. im more of the soft rock than hard rock person. i think one republic and daughtry belong to the "medium" rock category. they're not too noisy for me and i can appreciate the mix of instruments and melody of the tunes.

for jason mraz, i defintely preferred his acoustic versions a lot better than his studio recorded songs. i was a bit disappointed with the album but perhaps that's because im excessively stuck to the kind of songs he had done previously. e.g. acoustic concert in korea. (find it on youtube)
